A missing zine edition of Kepler's own Lamplighter appeared scattered around town, detailing the strange and unsual occurances within the town's territory.The Lost Edition of the Lamplighter: The Hidden Secrets of Kepler is a free, digital, SFW TAZ Amnesty zine focusing on the cryptids and mysteries within the world of Kepler, West Virginia. Must be 16+ to apply.

Guidelines

  • All applicants must be 16+ or will be turning 16 by the time applications end.

  • Only SFW works are permitted to be submitted as samples and in the portfolio. For writers, excerpts from NSFW works are only allowed if they are SFW.

  • Applicants are allowed to apply for more than one position but will only be accepted into one.

  • Moderators will be grading the applicants, so they will only be judged based on the samples and portfolio they submit. Applicants are required to use Google Drive or any space to submit their application. Watermarks and signatures are allowed and will not result in a score deduction.

  • Links to samples and portfolios must be easily viewable and accessible. If you’re using Google Drive to store your portfolio, make sure the permissions to the folder is set to “Anyone with the link”. The mod team will attempt to reach out to any of the applicants with broken links once. If no response is garnered, their application will be considered voided.

  • The Adventure Zone Amnesty, or The Adventure Zone, samples are encouraged, but not required.

  • Failure to follow any of the guidelines can result in a deduction of your overall score or disqualification during the application process.

  • Any piece for the zine must be a new piece of work and must remain zine-exclusive until otherwise announced. Contributors must wait for an announcement after the zine is released to start sharing their work publicly.


Writing guidelines

  • Those applying to be a writer must provide three (3) fanfictions in the style that best showcase the style you wish to write for the zine.

  • WIPs or unpublished works may be submitted as samples but one (1) sample should be a completed and standalone work within the required word count.

  • Each of the three (3) samples must be 1.5k - 2.5k words. Unless, you are writing a shorter format (ie. newsletter clipping, letters, poetry).

  • Applicants may include a link to their portfolio. This is only optional in case the applicant wants to give more samples for the mods to look over. Make sure the portfolio has no more than five (5) pieces in it, unless utilizing an AO3 link.

  • Samples depicting epistolary writing, journalistic pieces, and more experimental forms of writing are encouraged if you want to write in this style for the zine.

  • Applicants will be judged based on the following criteria: syntax, prose, characterization, and style.


Art Guidelines

  • Those applying to be a page artist must provide three (3) completed artworks that best showcase the style you wish to illustrate for the zine.

  • One (1) sample must include a fully illustrated and rendered background—meaning no graphic design elements, flat colors, or vectors.

  • Portfolio must include five (5) or more artworks. The three (3) samples submitted will be counted as part of the portfolio.

  • Applicants will be judged based on the following criteria: anatomy, lighting, composition, color theory, and grasp of personal style.

  • Traditional artworks are accepted and must be scanned at 300 dpi or higher.

  • If applying to be a comic artist, comic samples are encouraged but not required.


merch guidelines

  • Those applying to be a merch artist must provide three (3) completed artworks that best showcase the style you wish to illustrate for the zine.

  • Portfolio must include five (5) or more artworks. The three (3) samples submitted will be counted as part of the portfolio.

  • Applicants will be judged based on the following criteria: anatomy, lighting, composition, color theory, and grasp of personal style.

  • Samples of the merch type you wish to create are encouraged but not required.


music guidelines

  • Those applying to be a Musician must provide three (3) completed works that best showcase the style you wish to compose for the zine.

  • Portfolio must include five (5) or more works. The three (3) samples submitted will be counted as part of the portfolio.

  • Applicants will be judged based on the following criteria: music theory, grasp of composition, grasp of themes and motifs.


Cosplay guidelines

  • Those applying to do cosplay must provide three (3) completed works that best showcase the style you wish to photograph/compose for the zine.

  • Portfolio must include five (5) or more works. The three (3) samples submitted will be counted as part of the portfolio.

  • Applicants will be judged based on the following criteria: composition, lighting, posing, thematic understanding.
